Devorah has a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and is a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. She has a private practice in Vancouver and also teaches Counselling and Psychology.
Devorah is compassionate and non-judgmental. She listens deeply and with warmth and hospitality to all aspects of the self. Her approach is integrative (includes Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapies, etc.) within a general Jungian framework. (For more information on Jungian Psychology see www.cgjungpage.org) Having developed skills from many therapeutic approaches, she is able to respond to the client’s individual needs and goals.
Issues she works with are numerous. Loss and grief, relationship challenges, transition, mid-life issues, depression, anxiety and trauma are only a few of the areas in which Devorah specializes. She has found that spiritual and creative development are often a natural part of the process of self exploration and healing.
Devorah is trained in Interfaith Spiritual Guidance and she offers individual sessions with a focus on spiritual exploration and direction.
Counselling and Therapy* Practice
* The word ‘therapy’ is from ‘therapeia’ meaning ‘to attend.’
After over thirty years of experience in the psychology field and more than twenty years as a therapist in private practice, Devorah has come to view the therapeutic hour as:
• an oasis where you can retreat temporarily from the demands, responsibilities, and stresses of your day and focus on you, not so much the performing you, but the wise and knowing you. This deepest self knows infinitely more about who you are and what you are capable of than your more familiar self. It knows your hidden possibilities, your forgotten strengths and gifts, and what you need for your healing and unfolding.
• an invitation. In the counselling session, all aspects in you are welcome. As you develop a greater sense of acceptance and hospitality towards yourself, emotional wounds heal and new directions open up, ones that may never have occurred to you before. Your inner voice grows stronger and more confident – and so does your outer one.
• a practice of compassion and kindness toward yourself. There is no need to become someone different, only to rediscover unknown aspects of yourself and/or see yourself with new eyes. Your true destiny can then unfold – you become more of who you already are, the you you are meant to be.
• sacred. Whatever you wish to focus on is honoured. If you choose, the session can include spiritual exploration, whatever that means to you.
Journeys bring power and love back into you,
If you can’t go somewhere, move
in the passageways of the self.
They are like shafts of light
always changing, and you
change when you explore them.

To Build A Swing – by Hafiz
You carry
All the ingredients
To turn your life into a nightmare-
Don’t mix them!
You have all the genius
To build a swing in your backyard
for God.
That sounds
Like a hell of a lot more fun.
Let’s start laughing, drawing blueprints,
Gathering our talented friends.
I will help you
With my divine lyre and drum.
Hafiz
Will sing a thousand words
You can take into your hands,
Like golden saws,
Silver hammers,
Polished teakwood,
Strong silk rope.
You carry all the ingredients
To turn existence into joy,
Mix them, mix
Them!
